Sirius Breaks 2 Million Subscribers

September 19th, 2005 · 2 Comments · gadgets and technology, marketing

Orbitcast reports that Sirius hits 2 Million subs. I wonder if they count by radio, or by household. I’m a 2 radio home with one in the car. Not that I have any issue with Sirius, as I really like it….

Sirius and XM both count by radio unit. That includes units that have been purchased through “family plans” at lower rates (which also why you can’t extrapolate out their gross revenue based on subscriber numbers alone).

Several studies all have shown that for every radio unit, there are an average of 2.5 listeners. So from an advertisers standpoint, Sirius has a 5 Million listener reach.

Thanks for clarifying… Good to know the numbers are hardware, not people.
