There’s no doubt that syncing your data between devices and services is a great big pain in the ass … So I was naturally curious in the latest at GigaOm on the topic though note the complete fail (now on my second machine) from xmarks that decided to say hello while reading.

  1. um, that is quite the discrepancy, LOL. I had to stop using xmarks for the same repeated offense many moons ago… shame, cuz Foxmarks was solid!

  2. I too had XMARKS fail on a recent update of theirs. I'm not sure what happened but somehow things go so out of sync I lost SOME, but not all, my bookmarks.

  3. pretty sure I did not lose anything as the vast majority of what I use comes through del.icio.us. I was able to pull stuff back from the cloud though overwriting the local copy which somehow had been obliterated.
