N78 – Remote Disk enables remote streaming!

There’s no need to wait for Apple to flip .Mac into MobileMe to take advantage of your iDisk via mobile …

The Nokia N78 as well as other Feature Pack 2 (S60 3.2) devices all have the capability to connect and use remote drives via a feature called Remote Disk. I’ve added my Apple iDisk from my .Mac account and can stream music and video over wifi. I’m sure it would work over 3G as well if 3G was accessible on my device and at my house.

There’s much to play with here…

  1. Thanks for showing this feature! Ever since I learned that FP2 supports WebDAV drives, I’ve been itching to hear more information.

Can you copy files from your iDisk to your memory card?

Remote Drives adds a new drive letter to File Server, so you can copy from a remote drive to any other drive using either File Manager or a 3rd party File Browser.

If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next regularly scheduled time. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

  7. Unfortunately, there are also S60 3rd ed. FP2 devices, which do not support “remote drives”, e.g. Nokia 6220 classic, Samsung i7110.

  8. Nothing to do with remote drives but the theme on the phone, its amazing looking, what theme is it? I want it!!! 🙂

  9. could you tell me if this fuctionality of n78 can work on windows.thank you

  10. This is not dependent on a Mac … but a WebDAV server. .Mac (now .Me) provides that … if you have a host that offers that type of connection or are running something on your PC it should definitely work.
