While not exactly what I am looking for, this is a very cool and very compelling new use for the camera’s we have on our phones…
Bangalore based Motvik, is alpha testing their software WWIGO (pronounced ‘vigo’), which means “Webcam Where I Go”, which enables a cameraphone to stream live video to a laptop computer. [picturephoning.com:]
There’s a video on Blip if you want to see it in action.
The current alpha supports some S60v2 edition devices… I hope they’ll up things to S60v3 - but I’ll need a Windows machine in order to actually try it out which will certainly limit my abilities for now.

There’s also a program that I’ve been using, called Mobiola Webcam, that allows you (via bluetooth or the data cable) to use your phone as a webcam. There’s a version for S60v2 and v3.

As noted above, it is available but not that widely for many devices.
Check out ComVu PocketCaster, which can stream live video from your phone …

Hi Abhi,
It is hard for me to commit a date right now except to say it will take a few more weeks to be made available on S60 v3 devices. The initial version of the software will be made available for free.
Abhi & Jonathan,
ComVu Pocketcaster is a good application, I liked them when I saw them win the MoMo global awards last year.

We have done a public beta release of wwigo early last week, thought would let you know. Have added support for S60 v3 devices in this release, if you have any comments or feedback to it , would love to hear them.
@jeffrey ,
Do be tuned into motvik for updates.

Do you know if there’s a webcam solution for Apple’s iPhone?… i’ve been looking for any software capable of enabling iPhone’s built in camera to be used as a webcam, but i just can’t find anything….

If you want such functionality on a Mac, get Movino from SourceForge.net. Just tried it with my Nokia N95 and it works as a webcam with my Mac. And it’s free!
