I’m noticing immediate and significant performance improvements since the upgrade. I’m not sure whether it is from the Finder, or what, but so far this is great!

Me too… but I think the speed increases one sees after any OS X update are more down to how the Mac optimises itself after running the upgrade (hence the reason for a re-start). Someting to do with bindings I believe.
